PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench on Thursday rejected review petition filed by the principal of historical Edwardes College Peshawar, challenging last month’s judgment of the court of declaring the college a nationalised educational institution governed by a government constituted Board of Governors (BoG). PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday directed the prime minister’s principal secretary and federal finance secretary to respond to a petition seeking its orders for the federal and provincial governments to provide three per cent share in the National Finance Commission Award and Rs100 billion funds annually for the development of the merged tribal districts. Filed by PK-24 (Mardan) MPA Zahid Durrani through his counsel Muhammad Muazzam Butt, the petition claims both the elections and the re-elections are against the law. PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday suspended the orders of authorities to detain around 150 leaders and workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the province under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. A bench consisting of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah declared that the petitioners, who had been kept in different prisons, should be freed if they’re not required in any other cases and that each of them should produce two surety bonds each of Rs200,000 for their release.
